Hello!

This is exciting :). Thank you for suggesting this Janette, and for doing this blog Lali!

So how shall we start?

I've been working on Gower right now-- looking at the 'Vox Clamantis' and his minor Latin poems. I did Cynewulf this morning, on the 'Cynewulf canon' and whether or not it's suitable to treat these poems as a collective. Tonight once I'm done with Gower, I'll be working on 'Exodus' for A4-- just re-familiarising myself with the text and the notable textual/editorial points, and generally reading on its manuscript context.

Not sure if that was particularly useful!! Just thought I'd say what I'm up to...

Lots of love,
Hildeburh

ayoush, i rather think that "juliana" or "annora" would be a more appropriate name for you. Why dont you start with putting up your thoughts on cynewulf? I'm going to finish with heroic poetry by tomorrow, and thats what I will put up.

Oh, Ayoush, you're so intrepid. Hmm. Well, I have read the Cynewulf corpus recently, so will happily respond to and engage with your thoughts on that. Today, I've been reading Gawain romances. All I'm retaining of it currently is the fact that the Carl of Carlisle literally says 'Whoo, ther!' to Gawain when he gets a bit too hot and heavy with his wife, and some previous reader had drawn an appreciative smiley next to that comment. Ah, well. I have written up some thoughts on Beowulf and the transitory nature of things/treasure in OE poetry, so I can put that up, which would tie in with Lali's heroic poetry stuff.

Also, I think my blog name is too boring. Can I change it?

You're quite right Lali, Annora should be my name. I've been disloyal to the anchoress population-- they'll never forgive me!

Janette, which romance is that from?? You know I'm laughing out loud in my room here! :)

Intrepid? And why's that?!

I can't wait to hear all about your heroic things, and I can indeed start with my thoughts on Cynewulf.

All my love,
Annora

Ayoush - it's Sir Gawain and the Carl of Carlisle. I recommend it! ;)

You're just intrepid because of all the very varied work you're doing. I wish I could do things simultaneously!
